How To Manifest More of What You Want In Life

How can I manifest more of what I want in my life?

Most of the mails that I’ve received in the last couple of weeks from readers of this blog, and I received quite a lot, have bothered on the issue of “How do I manifest more of what I want in my life?” These mails have come in from readers with diverse religious and philosophical backgrounds – Christians, New Age, Buddhism, and others.

I love the fact that though I’m a Christian Pastor and often present issues from a Christian’s perspective, a lot of my readers are actually non-Christians (at least in the traditional sense).

What’s important, though, is the fact that people who come to this site are searching for effective solutions to their daily challenges. I did not author this blog to convert anyone to Christianity. My aim rather is to inspire you, Christian or non-Christian, to discover yourself! As my site tagline reads, this blog promises ’self discovery for open hearts.’

In this article, I want to show you how to manifest more of what you want in your life.

The quest

“…’Why have we fasted,’ they say, ‘and you have not seen it? Why have we humbled ourselves and you have not noticed’…” ~ Isaiah 58:3a

This is a common question particularly among religious minds. I often hear it in the following form, “I prayed, but God didn’t answer; why?” “Pastor, I sowed my seeds (ie gave money to God), yet no harvest (promised financial increase) came; why?”

I regularly receive complaints such as, “I’ve done everything the pundits have prescribed, yet I don’t see the promised results; why?”

What most people who seek to manifest more of what they want in life have missed is the point that success does not respond to ‘methods’, it responds more to ‘heart’.

Your ‘heart’ is the key

The key to manifesting more of what you want is not in methods, it’s in your heart! In other words, the results of your actions are determined more by the state of your heart than by the deeds themselves. Your heart is more important than your actions.

“Man looks at the outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart.”
~
God to Samuel, in 1Samuel 16:7b

“I the LORD search the heart and examine the mind, to reward a man according to his conduct, according to what his deeds do deserve.” ~ God to Jeremiah, in Jeremiah 17:10

God does not judge your actions in isolation; He rewards your actions with respect and regards to your heart. In other words, and this is for the benefit of religious minds :) , when you perform an action – give, preach, sacrifice, praise, dance, testify, evangelize, go to church, and so on – God keeps that action aside, searches your heart, and examines your mind. It is on the basis of this search and examination that He rewards the action.

I hope that point is clear enough to you.

Your actions will hardly yield much results in isolation from your heart. The exact rewards that you gain from any action is measured on the basis of the state of your heart.

“These people honor me with their lips but their hearts are far from me”
~
Jesus, in Mark 7:6b

From God’s perspective, the heart is more important than the action. Your heart either gives value, or devalues your deeds. When your actions are incongruous with your heart, they are worthless and yield no results.

Human beings usually look at actions and listen to sounds – physical appearances, how much money is given, verbal affirmations (most of which are usually hollow), and so on – then make their conclusions on the basis of what they see and hear. And this is why men can be fooled!

Not so with God! He looks at actions and words too – but He weighs them on the basis of your heart and mind to determine their worth. God looks at the heart, which is why He can’t be fooled. What matters to God is your heart.

What gives worth to any action is the heart of the man. Your heart is the key. It is your heart that matters. If there is perfect resonance between your heart and your actions, then you’ll get perfect results and rewards, if not, they are worthless. For instance, your verbal expressions of gratitude are useless without a genuine feeling of gratitude in the heart.

A perfect heart

Your heart is the seat of your emotions and your expectations. It is also the repository of your values, in other words, how things line up in your scale of preference.

“For the eyes of the LORD run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to shew himself strong in the behalf of them whose heart is perfect toward him…” ~ 2 Chronicles 16:9

If your heart is perfect towards God, you’ll get perfect rewards for your deeds.
But what is a perfect heart?

A perfect heart primarily refers to an unselfish heart!

Other elements of a perfect heart include:

  • An undiluted motive to help others,
  • Earnest gratitude for all blessings,
  • Positive expectations at all times

If your heart is unselfish, and is constituted of an undiluted motive to help others, earnest gratitude for all blessings, and positive expectations at all times, you’ll begin to manifest more of what you want in life, without much struggles.

So, what is the condition of your heart? How would you describe your heart?

Your heart and your mind

Don’t even think for a moment that you know your own heart!

“The heart is deceitful above all things and beyond cure. Who can understand it.”
~ Jeremiah 17:9

The heart is deeper than most people are aware of. Your heart is deeper than your mind. There are things happening in your heart that your consciousness (mind) is not aware of. Whereas your mind is the seat of conscious thoughts, your heart is the fountain of all thoughts and feelings. Thoughts are produced in your heart and then go on to shape your outcomes and experiences. Some of your thoughts reach your mind, others don’t! :(

So, you really can’t claim to know your heart with precision and perfect accuracy.

For instance, a clear conscience does not necessarily imply innocence. It could mean that what’s happening in your heart hasn’t yet been detected by your mind. This is why you can actually ‘deceive’ yourself! The Apostle Paul recognized this interesting phenomenon when he stated that, “My conscience is clear, but that does not make me innocent,” in 1 Corinthians 4:4.

So there are things hidden in your heart from your mind – from your brain, or your consciousness.

The heart…

Jenny Mannion posted an article recently that caught my attention. I was particularly arrested by the statement,“The heart, not the brain, is where information originates. Your heart gets information before it is even presented to your brain from the field and then sends a message to the brain which alerts the nervous system to react physically.”

Here’s the comment I left after reading that wonderful article:

“…the note that “…The HEART not the brain is where information originates…” is perfectly in line with Proverbs 4:18: “Above all else, guard YOUR HEART for it is THE WELLSPRING OF LIFE”
This is truly amazing. The bible teaches that with THE HEART we believe, Jesus then says that it will be done to us ACCORDING TO WHAT WE BELIEVE. So our outcomes(including health) are determined by Heart-activity, not Brain-activity!!!”

Jenny then added, “Isn’t it nice science is finally catching up with what the Bible told us thousands of years ago?!”

Think on the last statement of my comment there, “Our outcomes are determined by heart-activity, not brain-activity!” In other words, manifestation is a function of the heart, not the brain (or mind). If you want to manifest more of what you want in life, you’ve got to look more to your heart for the key.

So you see, positive thinking and affirmations alone cannot guarantee the manifestation of your desires and dreams. If what you are thinking and saying are not in perfect resonance with your heart, they are merely hollow wishes, powerless and devoid of any creative power. If you want to manifest more of what you want in life, you’ll need to work on your heart to ensure that it’s perfect.

How to transform your heart

Here’s a couple of effective steps towards transforming your heart:

#1. Prayer!

Prayer is one of the most powerful spiritual exercises known to man today. This is because it acknowledges the power of God to intervene in the affairs of men and change their situations supernaturally. It’s also an expression of humble submission to the sovereignty of God.

I love this prayer by King David. If you can find some quiet moments alone with God and your spirit, and if you can pray this prayer, I believe you’ll experience transformation of your heart.

“Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me.”
~ Psalm 51:11

#2. Meditation!

Meditation is another powerful tool for heart transformation. It also requires moments alone with yourself. But the most powerful benefits of meditation come when you can contemplate on the inspirations of God. The inspirations of God will simply elevate your consciousness to a higher realm and transform your heart.

“I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you”
~ Psalm 119:11
