How To Transform Your Desires Into Realities

My sermon yesterday morning was on ‘How to transform your desires into realities.’ It was essentially a message on the power of faith to move mountains and positively alter your circumstances.

I quoted extensively from the eleventh chapter of the Gospel of Saint Mark, and I encourage you to meditate on the Scriptures used in this sermon.

"Each person here this morning has one thing or the other that we desire to have, change, or remove in our lives.

This morning, I want to show you how to transform all of those desires into realities.

Mark 11:12-14

The next day as they were leaving Bethany, Jesus was hungry. Seeing in the distance a tree in leaf, he went to find out if it had any fruit. When he reached it, he found nothing but leaves, because it was not the season for figs.  Then he said to the tree, ‘May no one ever eat fruit from you again.’ And his disciples heard him say it.

Mark 11: 20-24

In the morning, as they went along, they saw the fig tree withered from the roots.  Peter remembered and said to Jesus, ‘Rabbi, look! The fig tree you cursed has withered!’ Have faith in God,’ Jesus answered. ‘I tell you the truth, if anyone says to this mountain ‘Go, throw yourself into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart but believes that what he says will happen, it will be done for him. Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received, and it will be yours.’

One of the first things I observed from the above incident was that Jesus did not make this miracle an issue about Himself, or His divine powers. He rather turned it right back on the disciples and practically made it a matter of their faith.

"Our realities and experiences in life are not just functions of God’s abilities, but that of our capacity to operate in faith.

In fact, what happens on the earth is not a measure of God’s abilities, its rather a measure of man’s capacity to believe.

You can transform your desires into realities. Jesus shows us how."

I then shared 5 key insights on how to transform desires into realities- how to move the mountains in our lives.

"#1. Have the faith of God…

Faith is how God gets things done! Jesus challenged His disciples to develop the God kind of faith.

This is consistent with the constant admonitions of Scriptures that we observe how the Maker does things and do the same. In Ephesians 5:1, we are actually told to be imitators of God!

An essential attribute of this God-kind of faith is revealed in the following Scripture:

(Romans 4:17)As it is written: ‘I have made you a father of many nations.’ He is our father in the sight of God, in whom he believed – the God who gives life to the dead and calls things that are not as though they were.

The God kind of faith is being able to envision invisible realities and then speak of them (pursuing their realization) with as much confidence and certainty as though they were already visible!

So, in other to transform your desires into realities, begin by developing the faith of God.

#2. I tell you the truth, if ANYONE…

So the principle of faith does not respect age, gender or religion. Anyone can operate it and get exactly the same results.

Regardless of your present socio-economic status, or the complexity of your mess, you too can appropriate the power of God’s faith to alter your circumstances.

#3. If anyone says to this mountain, ‘Go, throw yourself into the sea,’…

Of course, this implies more than mere talk. Jesus is referring to something far deeper than idle talk and fanciful wishes.

What is meant here is a crystal clear definition of a possibility you are resolutely determined to achieve; a reality you definitely want to experience.

So, WHAT DO YOU WANT? WHAT EXACTLY DO YOU EXPECT?

Take time to clarify your desires, prayer requests, goals, and objectives in very clear and definite terms.

#4. And does not doubt…

Everyone has doubts, so this statement does not mean the complete absence of doubt, but rather the refusal to yield to your doubts.

Doubts come from your own negative thoughts; use God’s words to defeat them.

Doubts come from cynical and negative people; get away from them and cultivate the company of positive people.

Doubts come from your circumstances; speak Gods words constantly over them.

#5. Have whatever he saith…

You will have whatever you continue to say, not whatever you say once and gives up as soon as doubts arise!  But again, this means more than just repeating bible verses. It also involves a continuous operation of all the keys above.

‘Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised;)’ (Hebrews 10:23).

The emphasis here is on persistence; persistence in cultivating Gods faith, clarifying your expectations, and in not yielding to your doubts."

There’s no mountain in your life that is beyond your potential to move. So don’t give up on your miracle. Move in faith today and begin to transform your desires into realities.

God bless you.
