Self Discovery

So far, we’ve been examining various aspects of the self discovery process. Below are aspects we’ve already covered:

#1. Become aware of your vital connection to God.
#2. Acknowledge the infiniteness of the varieties of divinity.
#3. Understand that you are a unique variety of divinity.
#4. Discern your message.
#5. Capture your passion
#6. Identify your abilities.

There are other aspects of the process, but I want to deal with them in a second edition of this series. For now let me put down some of my concluding thoughts on the present edition.

The entire series is appropriately titled ‘How To Discover Yourself and Achieve Personal Success’ because, you must discover yourself if you want to enjoy personal success, influence, and lasting greatness. In my opinion, self discovery is probably the most powerful tool for a life of impact.

Majority of people passing through this planet are completely estranged from their true selves, living as inferior clones of others! This is pathetic. Don’t let it happen to you!

Life actually begins for you the day you discover yourself. Until then, you are merely existing. Extraordinary men and women are individuals who have come to terms with their true selves and are translating that awareness into tangible and intangible benefits to the rest of humanity.

Your true self is your personal key to success, and impact. Your true self is hidden in you. He or she is not always obvious! This is why I use the word ‘discovery’…this is why I say, discover yourself.

Self discovery is a progressive experience

As I’ve continually stated in this blog, and also in this series, self discovery simply means to find out who you truly are from the perspective of God’s original and perfect plan for you.

Self discovery is not instantaneous. It is a progressive experience – a continuous process – because you continue to evolve and metamorphose into higher forms of your eternal essence. Yet, it does not automatically happen in time. Certain factors must be present for self discovery to occur or be accelerated – these are the aspects of the self discovery process that we’ve been examining in this series, such as:

There is no formal age at which you discover yourself. However, the earlier you discover yourself, the better for you. This is because self discovery is essential to success, personal achievement, influence and lasting greatness. In other words, you must discover yourself if you want to experience personal success.

Self discovery: a challenge and foundation for action

Self discovery is a continuous process. It is a lifelong experience. But it is not an end in itself – it is a foundation for action. Beyond the process of self discovery is the challenge of translating your awareness of who you are into real time actions.

I consider it a challenge because the rest of the world expect you to be someone other than your true self. They expect you to fit into some pre-fabricated mold. In this day of peer pressure, trends, and fads, you need to realize and protect your unique identity. This is not an easy task. In the words of EE Cummings, it means ‘to fight the hardest battle which any human being can fight and never stop fighting.’ It’s a daily, minute by minute battle.

Courageously choose and determine to accept and be the person God has made you to be. Tap into the originality and creative genius of God in your life.
