This week on ‘Discover Yourself!’Shileen will be presenting a series on what she has personally termed ‘WD Stories’ – her personal perspectives, experience, and testimonies on the mission and activities of the WD Favour Ministries International.
It was just a normal day for me doing my normal online activities back in October, 2008. I was writing and reading posts, tweeting, responding to emails, etc. I was becoming a regular at posting comments on Pastor WD Favour’s blog along with occasional tweets back and forth when we struck up a conversation that would change our lives.
After exchanging pleasantries and getting to know one another a bit we had decided to do a blogging project together on the law of attraction, a common interest we shared. Little did we know what God really had in store for us. The blogging project quickly went by the wayside as we began to discover common ministry interests.
I’ve always had a heart to empower women. Right around the time that the Lord was laying the groundwork for WD and I, I was launching a self-discovery type of online program for women. Because WD is all about self-discovery he encouraged me all the way. The interesting part to this, too, is that WD had a very strong empowering message for women that he had not yet shared online.
It was the end of December, 2008 when WD told me that he was going to do a blog series on his empowering message for women. He had already shared it with me so I knew what was coming. It was going to be a bomb … and a bomb it was!
The first post of the series hit January 2, 2009. It was powerful to say the least! We both worked feverishly at marketing the message and the response was wild! I distinctly remember saying to WD, “As this message gets out you will be taking it around the world.” And there is where it all really began.
The next thing we knew the first Woman Discover Yourself Conference was going to be in Pittsburgh and I needed a group of women leaders to help me pull this off. Who else do you ask but your best girlfriends?! I mean, really! Pulling off a conference like this was crazy enough but we would be bringing in the main speaker from Nigeria!! Oh my! I do recall thinking that my girlfriends would think I was nuts!
What you need to know at this point in the story is that my own life was beginning to transform. WD became my pastor, my life coach and business coach, yes, all from Nigeria! He has a beautiful gift of being able to cut through all the masks and see you for who you are and all of your God-given potentials. He believed that God was calling me to a great task, which meant that it was WD’s job to help me get me ready.
All at the same time my spiritual life was taking on new meaning. I had been praying for direction spiritually because my Christian walk had been at a crossroads. Many times I had cried out to the Lord for help. WD brought to me the Biblical side to all the universal laws I had been studying and it blew me away. It was the very key piece I had been missing in my Christian journey.
Another interesting factor to this story is the blog post I had written that same December around a question WD had asked on twitter. “Which three words would define your personal development in 2009?” My answer was courage, risk/faith, and focus. I have to laugh at this because I had no idea what was about to unfold in a short period of time. With courage at the top of the heap I have drawn on Joshua 1:2-6 all year to date.
And so now my first test of courage was before me when it was time to meet with my girlfriends and share the vision that WD and I had for Woman Discover Yourself. How much explaining would I have to do? Would they believe me? Would they think I had lost my mind? Or would they catch the vision and join us on this gigantic, important mission? …continues tomorrow>>>

Hey girl! It has been a great ride! God has a purpose for everyone and I am glad that He matched you and WD together!
aloha
