What does love mean to you?

thing-called-love I found myself posing this question to a fellow blogger recently on Facebook.  Hardly had I asked the question when I thought, “Hey, why not pose this question to all your blog readers.”

Of course, as soon as I sat before my laptop to type the question, a whole blog post flooded my mind! :(   … you know, thoughts on love and all my opinion on the subject.

But, I eventually held it all back and resolved rather to make this a platform for you to express your own opinion on the subject of love.

So, what does love mean to you?

  1. Love means to care about someone.

  2. WD – You asked about my favorite word so I HAD to answer! ;-) Love to me means that deep feeling of connection to each other, God and the Universe. Love is that deep joy of connectivity and knowing all is as it should be. Love means peace in our hearts and reflecting that out to the world so others feel it too. Love means feeling hugged by God and knowing we are all powerful, God-like and there is nothing to fear. Love means the deepest connection and realization that life IS beautiful and a gift and living in that gratitude and connectivity brings us the knowledge we are all ONE. I wish you and your beautiful family much love, happiness and success for 2010 WD!!!!

    • ROFL!!! Jenny, I knew this will get you. Thanks for sharing your beautiful and deep insight on a subject I know is dear and personal to your heart. I will be studying your comment for a long time. I pray you and yours have a glorious 2010!!

  3. :) Amazing perspective, Sarah. Thanks for sharing and may God bless you.

  4. I know who you were talking with pastor WD:) Love means life to me which in turn means everything that exists. Jenny reflected my thoughts on love perfectly, I couldn’t say it better.

One quote that comes to mind, I don’t remember exactly how it goes, but “God loves us not because of what we did but because he is God” .

True love is unconditional and it loves not because the subject of love is good or bad, it loves because it can’t not to.

Love means Love. Always. Even when it hurts, even when there is no hope. It does not judge, it does not stop and think whether the receiver deserves love or not. Love always loves, because that’s the only thing it knows to do…..if it is true love of course.

    • Of course, Lana, that discussion occurred between you and I!…lol I like the idea that ‘love is love’ and that ‘love always loves, because that’s the only thing it knows to do…’ I intend to take you up on that sometime. Thanks for your comment, and for inspiring this discussion.

  5. [...] I read  this post What Does Love mean to you where I still have to share my thoughts on [...]

  6. Like Jenny this is a big time word for me and after reading your post I founf the word popping up everywhere, so much so that I wrote a post today and made a sand picture.

Love is what makes my heart sing, love is unconditional, Love is friendship, without love we have fear, true love of self means we have released the ego

Being in love with self mean we have transcended, we are at peace in our heart, one might say we have reached nirvana, we are at one with God, I like Jenny’s comment we have been emraced by God or even hugged brings a smile to my face.

    Thanks for asking

    • Suzie, I understand the impact a simple question like this could have in our hearts, particularly when it has to do with a word as powerful as love. I was inspired to pose this question here after my facebook chat with Lana, as I wrote in the post. As you and Jenny have written, because God is love, love is the only way to become one with Him. Thanks for your comment.

  7. We experience love on a variety of levels: physical, emotional and spiritual. As human beings we have an immense capacity for love that for the most part is never fully realized. I believe that as our love of God increases so to does our capacity to love others on a unique spiritual level.

To me love is a deep spiritual connection. A pure abiding affection that can not be shaken by the storms of this world. It gives us strength and can not be drawn from us by human means but will endure forever.

  8. Love, love, love.I hear dat word almst everydai frm the sugar coated mouthz dat I began to hate it. My first understandin bout love was dat no mortal culd love, not that they dont want to is just that they cant! Love helps to the end, forgives the unforgivable.Jesus Christ loved us so much dat he came dwn to taste sin so dat we may b made whl to God.He was beaten, scorn, spat at,wounded and on his dyin cross he said ‘God forgive them for they kw not wat they do’.how much can u lay down or to wat xtent can u go for a stranger?? Im writting this based on wat I beliv and im open to corrections.stay blessed

    • Melody, I agree with you that Jesus Christ is the ultimate expression of love. As a Christian, I imagine you believe that human beings are made in the image of Love -God being love. Doesn’t that mean that ‘mortal man’ then has the potential to love as God? Just imagine that we begin to translate that potential into reality….

  9. This is a difficult question for me. I can say what love means but what it means to me is something am not yet sure of. But let me try. Love to me is something you show or do to me be based on the word of God which i may like or not like but turns out to be for my good in the end.

  10. I am experiencing the one flesh love the Bible speaks about. We are tightly net and woven together spiritually so we do not need to be physically in each other presence to communicate. It took us 6 years to reach this point. God separated us temporary to prove this to us. I needed to talked to her and prayed the Holy Ghost my request and she called me within the hour. She sounded frantic.
